Banaue
Rice Terraces located in the Ifugao province of the Philippines is
believed to be around 2000 years old and carved by the ancestors of the
indigenous people. They are fed water by an ancient irrigation system
from the rainforests above the terraces which can be seen by zooming
into the photo. This image was taken in January 2011 and shows the rice
terraces still being in used today by the locals in the town of Batad
featured in the center.
There are no roads that lead to the town of Batad and hence the lack
of any vehicles in the image. The only way there is by foot which will
allow you to take in many of the breathtaking views in the area
including a massive waterfall.
